Has Samsung inadvertently given away the screen size of the Galaxy Note 3?
A brief scouring of Samsung’s online software centre has revealed something interesting – a device which could be the Galaxy Note 3 and an official product number of GT-I9200. But don’t jump the gun quite yet, because none of the device’s product information, software or literature are available, they're merely sitting there, waiting to be set free.
The information was uncovered by Blog of Mobile, and it shows a device with the moniker GT-I9200, not too dissimilar from the 4G version of Samsung's Galaxy S2, which wore the label I9100M. According to the site the device will have a screen that is 6.3-inches and it will be provisioned for CDMA and GSM, and will also offer support for LTE networks.
The listing gives the GT-I9200 the name ‘Fonblet’ but we’re not buying that name for one second because it’s so ineffably awful that no company in its right mind would use it (we hope), least of all the world’s favourite smartphone manufacturer, and because we're thinking, no, hoping, that it's actually the successor to the Galaxy Note 2.
In recent weeks speculation regarding the Galaxy Note 3’s screen has reached fever pitch, with sources crawling out of the woodwork every second day claiming to have the low-down on the new device, but this would appear to be a far more official snippet of gossip, and one which ties in nicely with recent claims that the device would feature a 6.3-inch screen, claims which were based upon the launch of a new gaming accessory that supports displays of that size.
Other rumours have circulated suggesting that said screen could be made from Samsung’s extra-strong, flexible glass too, allowing the company to save weight – and if the screen’s size has been bumped-up then it’s fairly easy to guess where that saved weight might have gone.
Naturally we could be wrong and this whole thing could blow up in our face with the launch of a Samsung Fonblet under the Galaxy Note moniker but until that day comes we’re going out on a limb and saying that the Galaxy Note 3 will sport a 6.3-inch screen.
