Samsung’s Maestro Academy has designed a safety-oriented bicycle called the SmartBike, which it thinks would be the shape of things to come. The bike runs with technology that is currently available but it’s just the combination of all this with a smartphone (of the GALAXY variety) that brings a lot more to the table.
The bike which has been designed for town and city riding comes with unique aluminium frame that has been created to withstand shocks and vibrations better for increased rider comfort. Also included are a number of sensors that work with the smartphone attached to make the riding experience a lot safer and collecting data easier.
It comes with 4 integrated lasers that project a bike lane on the road below, and even includes a lamp that illuminates the area around bike to keep the rider visible in the dark. The SmartBike even sports a rear mounted camera below the seat which gives the rider a clear view of what is happening behind him.
Moreover GPS tracking can even add inputs to the grid and help local municipalities determine paths the bikers use more frequently and create bike lanes for the same.
All-in-all a great idea that applies smartphone tech to the fullest to one of the oldest modes of transport around.
