Nikon has announced new entry-level Digital SLR camera Nikon D3100. This new DSLR is step up version of existing Nikon D3000 camera. New D3100 offers high definition recording and improved image sensor. The best feature of this entry-level DSLR is the capability to record full 1080p HD video with continuous autofocus. New 14.2 megapixel image sensor is boosted for better imaging and new improved Guide mode will offer more interactive help. This DSLR would be available from next month for purchase.
The new Nikon D3100 has DX-format CMOS image sensor developed by Nikon and comes with new EXPEED 2 image processing engine. This new image sensor and image processing engine improve the quality of image and also support HD video recording with continuous autofocus. For capturing images in low-light, the ISO range has been boosted from 3200 in D3000 to 12,800 in D3100. Improved 11-point autofocus system covers more viewfinder area.
Citing the popularity of Guide mode in D3000, Nikon has added Assist Images for better assistance while shooting and also improvised the shooting functions. Yes, we know that the new 1080p Full HD video recording feature with continuous autofocus will make it feel like a camcorder. However, the lack of mic will always be an issue but that is to avoid noise. This DSLR also comes with in-camera video editing possible on its 3-inch LCD display.
New D3100 is capable of recording video at 24 frames per second and 30 frames per second in 720p resolution. Video in 1080p HD resolution can be recorded in 24 frames per second. Nikon also claims to have improved noise reduction, in-camera RAW processing, 100,000-cycle shutter and Active D-Lighting algorithms.
This new Nikon 3100 camera will be available with 18-55mm VR kit at a price of $700 (Rs. 32,530 approx.).
