Apple's iTunes 8.x version is currently battles the media sync support with Palm Pre smartphone. Now, Apple will bring Blu-ray and Social Media support in iTunes 9, according to an article by Boy Genius Report. A pretty reliable source has been cited for tipping with this information.
When Apple rolled out iTunes 8.2 with iPhone 3.0 support, we pointed out the mysterious Grace Note's Blu Ray support. Recent developments state that iTunes 9 will have Blu-ray discs support and users will be able to visually organize and manage content on their iPhone and iPod Touch.
Apart from that, iTunes 9 might also bring social media integration like Twitter/Facebook which might be used for sharing the multimedia (videos, photos) link to other contacts. Blu-ray has been on the wish-list of many users ever since the new Unibody MacBook Pro line up was launched and desktop Macs were updated.
Just last year, Apple CEO Steve Jobs referred Blu-ray as bag of hurt and now these rumors indicate that Apple is having second thoughts over it. Apple's computers are perfect and only miss much-asked for Blu-ray drive support. The next generation iPod Touch and multimedia friendly Tablet are expected in September. Thus, if this information stands true then iTunes 9 version might be announced at the same time.
