The header image is about to become a permanent fixture for Twitter profiles.
Twitter today announced that header images will be rolled out to everyone on December 12th. That means if you haven’t already uploaded a header image, your followers will see a default grey image when they visit your profile.
Similar to Facebook‘s cover photo, the header image appears above your timeline and is different from your profile picture. Because it occupies such valuable real estate, it’s important that you select a unique image that represents your brand.
Introduced in September as part of Twitter’s Enhanced Profiles, the design feature has a lot of potential for brands looking to stand out on the social network. To upload your header image, go to Settings > Profile and scroll down to Header. Your image must be a minimum of 1252×626.
