Sony’s New Handy Cam ‘NXCAM’ with E-Mount System

Sony the largest producer of electronic goods in the world has just announced a new Super 35mm equivalent CMOS HD Camcorder for high-end digital cinema production that uses the “E-mount” lens system: the “NXCAM” series, and plans to commercialize it in the first half of 2011. E-Mount lenses can easily be fitted to the camcorder, and other lens types can be used with adapters. The NXCAM can record video in AVCHD 1080p a widely supported format by many non-liner editing software vendors or in MPEG-4.

It’s a “For Professional” camera that uses E-mount lenses and has a Super-35-sized CMOS sensor. This “NXCAM” HD camcorder under development will be equipped with a Super-35mm equivalent sensor, a widely used film stock size in the film industry that is perfectly designed for capturing motion picture. This new sensor will have extraordinary performance in terms of picture quality and sensitivity. E-Mount lenses can easily be fitted to the camcorder, and other lens types can be used with adapters.
