Missed watching India beat Pakistan in the ICC Champions Trophy last night? Well, then you probably haven't been put through umpteen re-runs of Micromax teasing their next big smartphone. This time it's the Canvas 4, teased in two short commercials in between overs. The new flagship will go on pre-order from June 28.

According to our sources, the phone will have a HD display, although it was not revealed whether it will be full HD. We were also told that it would be priced between Rs 23,000 and Rs 25,000. Given that price, we wouldn't bet against it being a 1080p display. At that price range, the Canvas 4 will be taking on the Galaxy S3, which is still a hot seller in the market.

From the brief look in the teasers, the Canvas 4 looks to be a step up for Micromax in terms of design. Because instead of telling us about the specs of the Canvas 4, Micromax has let the design do the talking this time around. Sure we get a glimpse at the camera specification, but that was not the centre of attention.

The first teaser gave us a look blink-and-you-miss look at the phone from all angles. The brief glimpse revealed a back panel with a brushed-aluminium look, but there's no indication that this is indeed metal. The edges of the phone are chrome-plated, just like another recent flagship, we remember. Let's hope this one is an actual metal trim. What is most exciting is that we catch a glimpse of a SIM tray on the right edge of the phone. Could Micromax have a unibody Canvas 4 ready for us?

The camera lens is placed on the top-left corner of the back and the second teaser gave us a sneak peek at its 13-megapixel sensor and the LED flash on the back. The camera sits right on the left corner and is very deeply recessed to protect it from scratches. Overall, the phone looks much better than any other Micromax phone we have seen in the past and is far from generic. We are trying to get more details on the Canvas 4. Keep an eye out for updates and more specs.
