LG has just announced their Optimus Pad tablet running Android Honeycomb. As usual they have come up with couple of promotional videos for the device, both of which feature rather in-your-face potshots at Apple's tablet, the iPad. The first video features a Transformers-esque battle between the Optimus Pad and, what we can assume to be the iPad. You will see the Optimus Pad, which has transformed into a robot that resembles Optimus Prime, kick the other Transformer into an Apple Store. The ending sees Optimus One/Pad crush an apple in its palm. The other video features someone that resembles Steve Jobs himself, in a fighting game.
While the ads are pretty amusing, it somehow reeks of desperation on LG's part to take down the iPad. Only time will tell whether it will be successful in doing so. Till then, enjoy the ads.
