Ultrathin T420s
Lenovo announced its ultrathin ThinkPad that is set to arrive with Intel’s Sandy Bridge chips.

Lenovo ThinkPad T420s is only 0.83 inches thick but is said to pack a nice punch. Namely, this ultrathin notebook comes with an optical drive, Sandy Bridge and even optional Nvidia discrete graphics.

ThinkPad laptop group market manager Ross Compton said that Lenovo did some serious work on power management. Namely, Compton said, Lenovo has managed to reduce power consumption on the parts of motherboard where power is seldom needed, such as e-SATA or SD card ports. Furthermore, Compton said that Lenovo has managed to improve Intel’s Turbo Boost 2.0, and the T420s comes with Turbo Boost+ that should improve power efficiency.

The device weighs 3.94 pounds with a six-cell battery, although you can get more battery life by using an additional battery which replaces the optical drive. The T420s is expected to start at $1,329 when it ships sometime towards the end of March.
